AUGUST T-SHIRT
Inspiration from my trip to Arashiyama in Japan, where there's an array of bamboo forests, showering green hues everywhere and creating a quiet peaceful experience walking through them.
'Elegy moving in on delight' is a quote from Vincent O'Sullivan's book On Longing, noting the feeling of sadness when you realise that the present moment is going to end, a sadness for your future self or for future situations due to the absence of the current present moment of happiness. A feeling I relate to a lot
a short project summary: in 2024 I’m creating one tee design a month, a single print run, giving me chance to experiment with lettering and illustration for clothing. 5% of profits will go to 12 different charities over the year. Each month, I’ll be celebrating a (visually) creative artist from the UK alongside the launch.
This month’s artist is Bronte Palmer.
Brontë is a visual artist working across various mediums, currently focusing on scanography and illustration in her practice. We met at university and I acquired several of her hand-printed t-shirts which still live in my wardrobe today!
Her work places particular focus on identity and the concept of viewing the world without gender. She creates abstract face illustrations to represent anyone, of any age, race, gender, ability or sexuality, in order to promote unity, positive mental health and less pressure around self image. Her collaged works are uplifting and full of creativity, it's a joy to see her newest creations pop up on my feed so you should check her stuff out here @brontepalmer
5% of profits from sales of this T-shirt go to Teenage Cancer Trust.
Wash similar colours together, no ironing on print, wash and iron inside out.
